A Simple Skincare Routine
A good skincare routine doesn’t have to be complicated! With just a few simple steps, you can achieve beautiful, glowing skin that you will love. There are lots of products out there that promise amazing results, but I found that a simpler approach worked just as well. After trying out a few different routines, and using many different products from just water and oil to very expensive brand names (ouch!). I found that too many products took too long to apply, cost too much, and cause too much clutter. To simplify things, I created a routine with a few key steps and wanted to find products that were not just good for my skin, but also budget-friendly and easy to get. Here are my tips for taking care of your face and body.
Face
Step 1: Cleanse (daily – morning/only water & night)
Cleansing is the first step in any skincare routine, and it’s important to choose a gentle cleanser that is suited to your skin type. Don’t over-cleanse, as this could strip away your skin’s natural oils and cause irritation. It is suggested to cleanse skin morning and night, but as my skin is dry, I use simple moisturising face wash to clean my face at night and then splash with warm water in the morning. This helps remove any dirt, oil, and makeup that has built up over the course of the day but doesn’t dry out my skin. This is the cleanser that I use, but there are many other popular choices.
Step 2: Moisturise (daily – morning & night)
Moisturising the skin is essential to keeping it hydrated and healthy. It can also help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Choose a moisturiser that’s right for your skin type, I use a different day (Olay Firm & Lift Day Cream) and night cream (Olay Firm & Lift Night Cream), as I like the simplicity of having sun protection included (min SPF 15).
Step 3: Exfoliate (weekly)
Exfoliation helps to remove any dead skin cells, which can make the skin look dull and lifeless. I recommend exfoliating your skin once or twice a week, depending on your skin type. Use after the cleanser but before moisturiser. Make sure to use a gentle exfoliator that won’t be too harsh on the skin. I like to use a scrub, i have used St Ives Apricot Facial Scrub for years and always love the softness that it leaves my skin feeling.
Body
Step 1: Cleanse (daily)
To keep our bathroom clutter-free, we all use the same shower gel. To stay budget friendly and simple to manage, we pick up a bottle up at the supermarket when we shop. But here are a few options I have used and enjoyed.
Step 2: Moisturise (daily)
Again, to keep our bathroom clutter-free, we all use the same body lotion that is also picked up at the supermarket. We use Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula, we have used it for a long time and it smells incredible and leaves our skin so soft. I keep a pot of it in my bedside cabinet to remind me to apply some to my hands and feet before sleep. This allows deep moisturising through the night and super soft skin in the morning.
Step 3: Exfoliate (weekly)
For body exfoliation, I have always found it more beneficial for my skin to use a mitt rather than a scrub. Though many people tend to opt for a scrub, I find that the exfoliating hemp mitt is gentler on my delicate skin, and it helps to remove dead skin cells without causing any irritation. Furthermore, using a mitt often feels more luxurious and pampering, making it a perfect choice for my regular beauty routine. This is the one that I use, and it has never failed to give me the smooth and soft results I am looking for.

Step 4: Masks
Face Mask (weekly)
Face masks are a great way to give your skin a boost of hydration and nourishment. I recommend using a face mask once a week and leaving it on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing it off. I alternate from cleansing to nourishing face masks. You can find lots of different face masks, tailored to all different skin types, so make sure to choose one that’s right for you.
Foot Mask (quarterly)
If you want to give your feet an extra boost, you can also use an exfoliating foot peel mask every few months. This helps to remove any dry and flaky skin and reveal softer, smoother feet. My lifestyle includes a lot of walking and standing and so my feet take a hit. However, since finding these foot peels my feet have never looked or felt better.
Lifestyle
food
Eat a balanced diet to provide your body with the essential nutrients it needs.
drink
Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated.
sleep
Get enough sleep to give your skin time to regenerate.
A good skincare routine doesn’t have to be complicated. With a few simple steps, you can have healthier, more radiant skin. Cleansing, moisturising, and sun protection are all essential for keeping the skin healthy and looking its best. Consistency is key! I have personally found that my skin looks the best when I am consistently following a routine.
